Discover project highlights that demonstrate our expertise across geotechnical design, detailed inspection, instrumentation, and industry-trusted testing services.
Fairbank Silverthorn Tunnel
Phase I consists of a 3 km long storm trunk sewer from Fairbank Memorial Park to Black Creek. A 4.5 m diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) is used to construct the tunnel. Subsurface Geotech provided the instrumentation and monitoring of the shafts, soils, and structures along the tunnel alignment.
Parliament Centre Block
This is the largest, most complex project to rehabilitate a heritage building ever in Canada. Subsurface Geotech is providing testing and quality control services on the new foundation piles, in addition to instrumentation installation and on-going support with the building monitoring program.
Darlington New Nuclear Project
This site features construction of the world’s first grid scale small modular reactor (SMR). Up to 4 new SMRs are planned for the Darlington site. Subsurface Geotech is providing quality verification engineering (QVE) for the secant pile shafts as well as the structural caissons for the support buildings. Included in this QVE is Thermal Integrity Profiler (TIP) testing, SQUID testing, and verticality testing for all drilled shafts. We also developed a custom software application to allow for all stakeholders to monitor drilling and concreting operations in real time, maximizing transparency.
